Hmmm, let's see. I know your only counting odd numbers but lets count the number of championships in the '00's since the odd year isn't enough evidence that a team will win it all.. Lakers got 00, 01, 02, 09 & 10. Spurs has 03, 05 & 07 as you said. That is 5 to 3.

ESPN, the definitive voice in sports has power ranked the Spurs as the best TEAM in basketball. Shall I research Yahoo, etc.? Or will you man up and concede the point that the Lakettes just aren't playing well right now?

ESPN is not the definitive voice in sports, they are merely a sports channel. You have to take everything that comes out of that channel with a grain of salt.

If we are to believe ESPN right now, they have Boston ranked highest. So technically you'd have to believe that, right? Can you concede that the Spurs isn't the best because they said it? I mean that list can easily change and look as you can see And look, the Lakers won one game and they move up to 4th place. I can admit, in my opinion that the Spurs are playing better right now and is a big surprise but I predict the Lakers or Boston winning it this year and I hate Boston (well their players). Would you bet on the Spurs winning it all right now about a month into the season? I would bet on the Lakers or Boston, despite their records and not just because they have the best record or because ESPN said it.

I wasn't counting 00 and 10 because they are the beginning and end of the decade. And because the Lakers won.

fwiw the line did move from 2-1(?) within a few days to a more reasonable number. Odds can get skewed from the 'real' number for a few reasons. An example being hype on big stories/popular teams ex. Jets and Heat this year. That's a different discussion though

FWIW when they announced the deal I wondered how they would cut the ball 3 ways. D-Wade's gotta be tired about hearing about LeBron.

Damn. great game last night between the Lakers and Clippers. I was actually going with the Clips hoping they'd win and they were so close too. Fisher in his damn clutchness. Clips put up a great fight though.

And on our fantasy league news, stupid reports are pissing me off. They said Aaron Brook would return soon so I didn't pick up Lowry and now this is the second week he is killing me. I should have just picked him up when I had the chance, stupid Yahoo reports!

I didn't see a single great game by any player not named Shannon Brown (and Ron Artest in the last minute).

2 Q's....why the f*** would the Clippers, with <24 seconds left in the game, initiate a play that leaves FIFTEEN SECONDS ON THE CLOCK for one of the greatest closers in history? 2nd question....I know the focus was on Kobe, but REALLY? A last second LAYUP?!? Yikes.

Clips are a fun team to watch, but boy is their closing out of games just god awful. Seeing Vinny Del Negro look all impotent on the sidelines doesn't do much for my confidence either. Even when they were down by 12 in the 4th, I had no doubt the Lakers would win it.

It was pretty good game for Blake and Gordon. They made mistakes but they really rallied that team to these close games. They always to be right there with teams but can't just quite get over that hump... yet.

That last second lay-up was, well, luck. It is Fisher, dude can't make a lay-up to save his life but he managed to make that floater over Jordan (literally an inch or two from blocking that ball) with a fraction of a second left when it left his hand. The Clips denied Kobe the ball, prevented a jump shot by Fisher and that is all they could hope for really, they actually defended that last play well.

I was a bit hesitant to pick him up, glad I did tho. I also wondered why he was still available when I went looking.

I was referring to the Lakers when it came to a 'well played game'. Griffin and Gordon were good and fun to watch...but they definitely BOTH messed up on that last turnover. Lazy pass, lazy boxout, and un-lazy Ron Artest made that happen. You know what would have helped them defend that last shot more? If there were 0 seconds left in the game for the Lakers to run a play. They left 15 entire seconds on the clock! I've never seen a team run a <24 second end of game play and leave that much time on the clock. As for D Fish....that's just him...he's one of those guys who will miss 3, 4, 5 shots in a game but make that ONE that counts. At this point, we shouldn't even be surprised.

I'm confused, which play were you talking about? IIRC, Clips were down by 1 and thats when they had to score so when they got the opportunity they did, when Gordon drove and dropped it to Jordan for the dunk. Next play was Lakers ball and Kobe dribbling around and Gordon fouls him with 3 seconds left. That's how I remember it and if the Clips had to capitalize and score, thats what they had to do, you can't pass up that chance. It might have been a bigger risk if they waited for the clock to run, the Laker defense set and not get up a shot or get a bad look. Considering they had a foul to give, they did the right thing I think since they can foul and and make it harder for the Lakers to make the final shot, which Fisher did anyways.
