Recently been working in Maranello. The company abuts a Ferrari workshop. From the terrace during coffees I can see into the repair yard and occasionally they release a masked vehicle to be shuttled over the flyover to the main plant.

They are supposedly working on a lot of new cars, so they're probably doing that often. New replacements for the 612 (which I've never liked) and the CS/Scuderia version of the 458, plus the modificato facelifts of the 599 and Cali should all be out soon, as well as an F70, last but not least. Ferrari is in a sweet spot right now.

There's this white 360 I snapped and put in the exotic cars thread that I see around town once in awhile; last time it was parked in front of the casino and then I proceeded to walk in and lose a lot of money on the tables that night. I've always wanted a white Ferrari but now I feel like they're gonna bring me bad luck - and my girlfriend (who has had several F-cars) chimed in that Ferraris are all destined to make you poor, no matter how much money you have.

Ferrari has decided to recall all of the 458 Italia cars it made this year, following reports of a number of the luxury cars catching fire.

Ferrari said its engineers had flown around the world to investigate five reports of "thermal incidents".

As a result, it will be asking the owners of more than 1,200 of the supercars to bring them in for modification work.

Time to build a brand new car for the owner who's ferrari was burned in half? Maybe they'd do a rush job but that still many months at least. Unless they give the owner money and expect him to find a new car on his own.

Like the owner NEEDS the Ferrari for everyday transportation...

Ferrari is going to fix it and right now it seems to be a repair rather than a whole new car. And if it is a whole new car, I'm guessing they'd do a rush job and push the other deliveries back. The "find your own" idea really wouldn't work with Ferrari, it means customers would have to go to the 2-year wait from another dealer (the ones who took delivery are likely preferred and repeat customers to a single dealer. It's just the newbs that have to wait 2 years).

looks like 6 cars have flamed out so far.

It's apparently some glue that was close to a heat source that made it catch fire. They're replacing it with rivets instead.
