Since the whole thread go moved into the PSA thread, I figured I'd re-post here where some of Alfred Sargent's exquisite shoes have been featured before:

ALFRED SARGENT TRUNK SHOW IN NYC - FEBRUARY 25th and 26th

Hi Guys,

I was just speaking with Chay Cooper over at Alfred Sargent and he mentioned he was planning on doing a trunk show in New York the last week in February. Unfortunately I’ll likely be back in Hong Kong for business so I’ll have to live vicariously through you all! Just wanted to pass along the details as Chay is a great guy who is incredibly accommodating. I’m in the midst of placing an order soon and based on what I’ve been seeing from clintonf and Groover I doubt I’ll be disappointed!

Chay will be conducting the trunk show on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th of February at The Warwick Hotel – 65 West 54th Street right off 6th Ave. Apparently he’ll be introducing the new range of Alfred Sargent Handgrade and will also be discussing their new made to order service. Feel free to contact him at [email protected] to learn more details.

One thing I find particularly compelling about the MTO service is that they can make changes to their existing RTW line for a small surcharge. For example, if you wanted to order one particular RTW model that only comes in black calf in a tan suede you can do so. Considering their shoes are only around 215 pounds to begin with that’s a pretty compelling option in my book. Apparently you can also order “a la carte” where if you want to have a medallion or beveled waist on an existing shoe you simply pay only for those additions. The charges seem to vary based on what you need, but nothing is egregious. The prices are being finalized and I wouldn’t want to misquote so best to contact Chay directly.

They can also make shoes on your own last from Springline for a surcharge – not something most other makers do. I plan on purchasing my own last in Northampton next week when I visit and trying this out as I’ve always felt having my own last would be best for my awkwardly shaped feet.

I believe their MTO shoes on a custom, new pattern start at 500 pounds as has been mentioned elsewhere.

I have no horse in this race. I only want to make sure Chay gets the recognition he deserves. That and I’ve always had an affinity for Alfred Sargent as the Gatcombe in dark brown suede was the pair of shoes that first turned me on to elegant British footwear.

Have fun at the trunk show if you go!

Nice. I'm wearing Alden dk. brown suede longwings today, but the Vass look so much better.
