I think OT should be handled by giving each team one more possession on the 10 yd line. That's how it's done with Indiana high school football. If neither team scores, they go again.

college rules is so much better, put it on the 25 and give each time a shot to score/match.

The only defense I can even think of is that your defense should be able to step up and stop them. If your a good team, your defense should stop them, not just only score. But thats a looooose arguement.

It's crazy. If you win the coin toss there's an 85% chance you win the game. They should implement the college rule.

Think of what the college rule would do to your fantasy scoring - 1 td each team during the game, 3 td each in OT.

That would be great or suck, depending.

you get 60 regulation minutes to win the game. if you can't, imma flip a coin and first team scores win. if not, draw.

fairest way possible. though i can see the argument for touchdowns only.

The best defense, made by ESPN's John Clayton, is that the sudden-death format reduces the number of ties. To me, allowing each team at least one possession is the only reasonable alternative. Going to a college-type format would be a boon to fantasy-football players, but would lessen the integrity of the game.

I can't remember the name and team of the NFL coach who elected to kick after winning the coin toss in OT. I do remember that his team lost, and he was fired immediately afterwards.

using the college system would be the stupidest thing ever.

I don't have a big problem with the system the way it is but I agree that it would be better if you had to score a TD.

PS what was the "free kick" thing they were talking about last night? Is that some new rule? I wasn't sure I understood what they were talking about.

EDIT: I looked up the free kick and boy is that a silly gimmick of a rule. Not new though. In fact, very old, apparently.

Marty Mornhinweg of the Detroit Lions. Apparently he wanted to play with the wind. Classic example of overthinking the situation. If I had the '85 Chicago Bears defense and was playing in the middle of a monsoon, I'd still elect to receive.
