J.Press ties - Wide or narrow?

Hello all,

I'm hunting for a few grenadine ties, and I've come across some quite nice looking ones on the J.Press website. Being in Australia, I'm afraid that I don't have access to a J.Press store and thus I have never had a close look at any of their ties.

Does anyone have any idea how wide these ties might be?

I'd prefer a tie that is at least 3.5" wide.

I have one and believe it is exactly 3.5 wide, but will measure for you tonight when I get home. They're great ties, by the way. I can heartily recommend the brown grenadine.

I had mine narrowed, because I wanted them 3". They were AT LEAST 3.5", possibly 3.75". Don't listen to that guy who said 3.25". Order them - you will be happy.

I don't have the one you are asking about, but my J. Press ties are all 3.5 inches. I bought them in the past year, and, as I recall, all ties in the store seemed the same width. If you are still not sure, send an e-mail or call customer service. I find it rather odd that all on-line retailers of ties do not list the width.

I just happened to be wearing a J. Press tie at this moment and had a ruler on my desk. Mine too is 3.5 inches at the widest point in the front blade.

I'd be less worried about the width, and more worried about getting one of the made in China ones. They feel like crinkly paper.

Mine says made in the US, which in and of itself is somewhat remarkable

Now they're mostly made in the U.S., England, or Ireland. There was a brief period where everything seemeed to be Chinese made--I guess that didn't work out for them. It's funny, because the salespeople will deny it, and when you point out a made in China tie on the shelf, they act surprised and say it must be an anomoly. Until you point out that the whole series of ties is Chinese made. Then they just accuse you of caring too much and call you an Ask Andy member.
