I have a cocktail reception tonight, to which I need to wear both a tie and, likely, a scarf. It is a gathering of prominent attorneys, judges, and legislators, along with students at my law school. The cocktail reception is outside, albeit in large event tents with heaters. Typically, the weather here at this time of the year is mild (in the range of 50F at night). However, tonight, the temperature is supposed to drop to the mid-20s, so it will be unseasonably cool. A tie is a must at this event, but I feel it would also be appropriate and smart to wear a scarf.
My question, then, is: What is the best way to tie a scarf when wearing it with a necktie? How do I wear both a scarf and a tie at the same time (hopefully it is possible).
