DNW, sorry to hear that, but I agree that nothing you could have done, this was an HR screw up.

I have often wondered at the relatively large salaries paid in HR. In the UK they have even organised themselves into a profession. Their main function is screening out good candidates for jobs through ill thought out, inappropriate recruitment processes. Then they make streams of errors attempting to perform the simplest of tasks. marsupials.

^they have almost no understanding of what makes a good or bad candidate. ditto headhunters/recruiters. i often ask for a write with 5+ years of consumer writing experience and get a kid out of school or a dinosaur who's been working in pharma but is "versatile"

We had a name for human resources at our old company: human remains.

They are morons.

Still, getting your hopes up that much for a lame ass law interview is probably ill advised.

If you mean professionally, don't waste your time. It is flattering, but most of the HHs I've encountered haven't a clue as to the job they're trying to fill. I've had one hammering on me for over a year and the jobs they put in front of me are things I am either blatantly un-qualified for or simply stupid.

Easy for you to say, have you seen the economy lately?

But, I didn't put all my eggs in one basket. I went to a first round interview yesterday for another position. I am expecting a call by the end of the week for the second round.

I always have this conversation with people, when I've been looking for a job, I get a bunch of HH's blowing smoke up ****** and then either never putting a real job in front of me or putting something that is not even close to what I want. happens to my friends also. Are they just hoping that you'll take anything and they'll get their commission or do they just want to keep a large repository of resumes/interviewees as it makes them look good to employers or are they just bored??

Quick question - the ad you responded to - what was the position and how were the requirements described?
