The burgandy jacket length with the selvedge is sublime.
so much nicer in person.

Wash that green linen about 12 times. then I will make a shirt jacket that won't look so stiff.

Thanks for the contribution re the Navy Windowpane from H Lesser. Much appreciated.

I remember the slate-ish Navy glen paid with subtle blue windowpane from Golden Bale. It is nice. However, I am after a bit darker/plainer in the base and a bit bolder in the windowpane.

I saw a sportcoat by Isaia in that pattern just this season. If the 42 is still around come sale time, it's mine.

Summer projects

This summer, a suit's worth lightweight brown fresco, darker in real life:

Next summer, a suit's worth of LL mid-grey Brisa 3-ply high-twist fresco-like cloth. Lighter and with no blueness in real life:

That's got DB 6/4 written all over it. Keep your windows open though in winter.

I keep telling my tailor that I'll get to it as a 3 pc with Smalto lapels. Might even do it this winter.

Hi Manton,

Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering where you got the 8 ounce elephant grey, 60% summer kid mohair, 40% Golden Bale worsted cloth from. I am looking for a very light grey cloth for my next suit, but I cannot find the right colour anywhere! Is that fabric still available, and if not, are you able to recommend something similar to that colour? Thanks.

Regards,

Seng

Is this chalk stripe from one of the books, or is it something more arcane? it looks great.

manton's explanation on p. 3: "Charcoal chalk: common enough, but I got a good deal on that and succumbed. Plus it's made by a mill I like that does not sell much over here."

It's Fox. The closest thing I know to it in any current book is in Minnis, and that version is a lot heavier and stiffer. Also, the stripe is much louder.
