This is just the kind of primer info that Is necessary when we n00bs show up.
Some Terminology:

I think this is all stuff for people who've been here a bit debate. I'm trying to keep it somewhat pruned. If it's too long, body will read it.
Hah! You held out for a whole week, almost to the minute. And you devoted your 25,000th post to Andy Gilchrist! I'm sure Andy will be very proud. Now go post something useful in Manton's conservative business dress thread.
Fair enough. Alternatively, I would say we should put this (in perhaps an expanded form with info pruned in detail from good topics where it's discussed) in the wiki, but I don't know how many folks think about the wiki.
Good idea. Imo, you might add links to important threads on each topic, such as A Harris's "Shoes Explained" and tutee's "On Pants": http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...ht=tutee+pants
Can I suggest for the benefit of non-Americans (or those buying English shoes), you re-title Oxfords as something like 'Dress shoes'? In the UK an Oxford only refers to a Balmoral i.e. Derby/Blucher Oxford/Balmoral.

I started reading this well informed thread (on pants) and noted the pictures are working due to domain violation issues. This is a real let down since I am trying to learn about this right now and my hopes have been shattered on the rocks of image blocking.
