Guys- Where do you go to read/learn about brands that aren't commonly discussed on here/sufu/sz/wherever? Fashion books, magazines, websites I'm unaware of? I'm especially interested in Japanese designers (CdG, Undercover, N(n), Yohji, whatever else...)

dirty vodka martini garnished with pickled garlic and wasabi-stuffed olives. Must share, and no one reads the drinks thread.

Linguist, you might try finding a tumblog that tickles your fancy. Clicking on all the followers is like a neverending rabbithole; you're sure to eventually come across something new, even JAPANESE.

I can't see anything past the N on the side when I see a pair of New Balances. Mall-walking steez, IMO, but I recognize that there's ish out there that I just don't get (e.g., Rafsics).

On the rare occasions I venture outside the world of craft beers and into cocktails, I tend to be a rye Manhattan guy (bourbon's too sweet). 2:1 rye to vermouth, and the vermouth 2:1 sweet to dry. Heavy on the bitters, and a sour cherry (maraschinos make my teeth hurt). Bonus points at bars and parties 'cause I can tie the cherry stem in my mouth.

this is good, I keep Bombay Sapphire and Hendrick's at home for martinis. Both are good but are completely different.
