Received Saint Crispins

Few weeks ago, I posted a couple of pictures of a new pair of Saint Crispins that I ordered. I received them today via DHL. They are simply gorgeous, and much better looking than in the picture. The patina is black faded. But with the light and flash, the shoes appear dark brown. This is very unusual from everything I own including G&G, GC, JL, EG, etc. Please, enjoy these few pictures.

Price was approximately 900 Euros including fitted shoe trees, metal tips, and shipping charges.

What are you talking about? I was simply home, wearing an old pair of Levis 501 jeans when the shoes came in. How better should they be?

I dont think they are worth 900 euros- but that is just my opinion of course.

Interesting. Mind if I ask why?

As far as I know, St. Crispin shoes are mostly handmade unlike some of the other luxury shoe brands out there, e.g. Edward Green. Hand lasted, hand welted, hand sewn. From what I can tell, and in my personal opinion, the finishing/antiquing, last shapes, and designs are beyond other shoemakers such as JLP. The mottled sole with a narrow and pegged waist is also unique to other makers. I very much enjoy their rustic-ish, Eastern European shoemaking aesthetic. To me, 900 Euros seems fair, or a great deal if this is MTO.

+1, I have EGs and JLP to my untrained eyes Saint Crispins are much nicer in the finish. Recently handle a few pairs before I took the plunge and order one for myself, they are also lighter than. It has a feel of a bespoke shoes. SC is also more flexible with there MTO program willing to reduce width and instep is a big plus for me.

Just out of curiosity, how were you able to determine your size? I've always wanted to order a pair of SC but just assumed it would impossible to find my size without actually trying a pair on.

Speaking of finishes, my wise ass thought it would be interesting to apply neatsfoot oil to a pair of Pewter JLP. Totally ruined the color
