dont give up, I have been picking up a lot of second tier stuff however; Tailorbyrd, etc.

What size/pattern/color? I'm very fond of Ravazzolo stuff but I've only seen it at retail in Vegas.

Yeah, I definitely know that persistence pays off.

Grey, nailhead pattern, 56 R Euro, 100% Virgin Wool, 3 btn closure, Sport Coat

I saw V man sell the exact same thing for $250 BIN, I really think I ll let it go for a lot cheaper if anyone is interested! I think it retails for $2500 +.

Great find! Real 'gator belts are on my thrift dream list.

Last week I picked up a great condition Oxxford suit. There's a guy at church who I've introduced to thrifting. He thrilled himself by picking up some AE shoes in his size recently. He only thrifts for himself, not necessarily interested in the high end, but appreciates nicer things. At any rate, I sold him the Oxxford (it was his size), and he took to his tailor today for alterations. He was thrilled.

Great story. I am always trying to do things like this. Virtually anything I pick up for flipping I first keep around the house for a few weeks or longer, trying to feel out if I have any interested friends the item would work out for.

Notably I was talking with one of my dance instructors a couple months ago about his shoes (a pair of brown Mezlan captoes), and he mentioned in passing that his black pair of Mezlan's recently died and he's been looking for a new pair. This was before I started being known for finding shoes for my friends. Oddly enough just a month later I found my first ever pair of Mezlan's, a beautiful pair of black captoes in great condition, in his size and only $4.

Which one is your favorite?

All three are nice, but I particularly like my Aldens. I like the look of oxfords better than blutchers, and there is something about getting a brand new pair that you get to break in entirely yourself.

Where in LA? There are a number of great thrift stores in the Los Feliz area including Squaresville on Vermont.

So I was home for a few weeks and decided to hit all the thrifts I could find.

-A number of very nice vintage neck ties. Including one ugly but oh-so-lovable Thanksgiving themed tie.

-Midnight Blue suede shoes, 1950s or even before. Absolutely beautiful shoes and, best of all, they fit.

-Land's End Tweed Jacket, fits perfectly, nice heavy material to boot.

-Several pairs of Trafalgar Braces, these seriously made my day.

-Three flat caps, one in a light brown corduroy, one in red herringbone, and one in Grey wool.

-Desert Boots, not Clarks but 1960s Towncraft. They look brand new save for some wear on the sole.

So, all in all, a really good haul.

Fantastic luck last Saturday. A Goodwill by my work was having a Friday/Saturday sale, every clothing item $2, and shoes 50% off. I've been busy, so I didn't go check it out until almost the end of the sale, late on Saturday right before going to work.

First thing my eyes see in the shoe section are a unbelievable pair of Florsheim Imperial shell longwings. In my size! These are in amazing condition, and all I've done to them so far is rub them down for a minute each with a cotton cloth. No sooner do I pick them up, but someone announces over the PA system that the manager has just declared all shoes are $2 as well.

I'm pretty excited, so please excuse all the pictures.

I didn't have much time to look around, but I also found a NWOT black leather Ike Behar belt in my size, and a blue pinpoint Sulka shirt with french cuffs that fits me as well (although it is a little baggy, so I'll either eventually pass it on, or wear it only when I know I'll be keeping my jacket on).

It's not all good news though. I was at this same store (which is normally pretty expensive) the Saturday before, and left with 6 pairs of shoes, and paid over $80 for the lot. If I had paid attention, and thought a little, and waited for this sale... well, I won't let it spoil my mood.
