I've seen some pretty "tight" guys in my neck of the woods - Korea.

Funny how they have a different set of criteria for Asians... over here, my frame is looked upon as being ape-like and primitive. No idea what my waist line is, but I wear 32's on ******.

As Gradstudent78 suggests, measuring with a tape around the belly button is the only reliable measure. The problem with the size of your trousers is that, across brands, and particularly in the US, the sizes are not exact. In the US, I've often found that jeans, for example, are one to two sizes bigger than the European version of the same size (I always considered this to be a vanity thing to hide the truth from Americans as to their actual fatness). In any case, a measuring tape is the best option.

6'2" 235 37" natural waist and bodyfat last checked around 18% (I could lose about 15 pounds of fat) - I generally wear 34" labeled denim and 36 labeled dress pants/trousers. I don't think I could ever get below 34 natural waist without completely wasting away, as I was at 34 years ago when I weighed 180 and was stick thin.

29-31 inch waist depending where I wear my pants... 6"1', 175, 6% body fat, 15 inch drop. And you think YOU have trouble buying clothes that fit!

I haven't really measured, I just know what I wear... 30 in jeans, 31 in dress slacks. Both are are a little loose for some slack.

You could call 10% arbitrary. This is about estimating the waist size distribution if the population were generally fit and healthy. (Not that this is a representative sample.) Interesting thought - is obesity increasing, or is it also that people are bigger across in basic structure?

I don't know about the whole obesity epidemic. I'm seeing more slim fit clothing than I've ever seen before. Maybe because I've lived in the healthiest parts of the country.

Southerners and Midwesterners are skewing the scale. F***ers. No universal healthcare for them.

Obesity is increasing everywhere. Ironically, it might be driving the slim-fit trend, as those who are staying thin look worse and worse in the clothes that are being adjusted to fit the masses.

the fit on most american designers' clothing, high and low, is atrocious IMO. suits with 4 inch drops to accomodate dorito eaters.
