as far as I know, Albadalejo shoes are only available in Spain and in Paris.

I think it is your duty, as "Our Man in Paris" to go down to Avenue de l'OpÃ

I went to the Albaledejo store this summer when I was in Paris. They had some nice MTM wholecuts in the window, however they had a rather camp antiquing job done on them. The RTW shoes seem well constructed, along the lines of C & J (i.e. with at least 2 different "levels&quot. The detailing and stitching are well executed. Lasts are ordinary (I seem to recall Spalla mentioning that they were working on some new lasts, however). Given that I can get to Northampton within about an hour, I wasn't tempted.

I bought a pair earlier this year in Barcelona -- calf-skin full brogues in a lovely cognac.

The last is very similar to my Green 202s, which are also a full brogue, although with slightly longer in the toe (i.e., less rounded). Goodyear stitched. Nicely finished throughout -- leather lined, good stitching and coloring, etc. 280 euros ($348, but I got a VAT returned). Easily the level of Sargents, if not superior finishing in my opinion. IMO better than Italian shoes sold for a higher price range in the States (see Barneys' Lidforts and Harris and Tods for comparison). When in Spain, I also looked at the Yankos which gets some play on these boards, and the Albaladejos were far ahead in terms of quality.

I recall that what got everyone excited on the boards was the cordovan. For one, I found the cordovan work to be fine, but nothing special. Based on descriptions of the Paris store (Andrej?), it sounded like the Spanish tastes were more basic and the French models were more expensive and dramatic. The cordovans in Barcelona were only brogues and loafers -- no whole cut -- and only in brown, black and cordovan color. The price was closer to 400 euros if memory serves.

Well I don't think I can have an opinion on something I haven't seen.

I know that Albadalejo makes the ladies' shoes for Edward Green, so I presume very much that their craft skills are immaculate. I like very much some of the pictures I have seen, mainly lace ups in tan (whiskey) shell cordovan. (They feature a galoshes/balmoral shoe in their current "Monsieur" advertising.)

Their web site seems to be down at the moment; maybe they get now a fully functioning site showing their entire catalogue.

So, right now I have good vibes, but no opinion on Albadalejo shoes until I have actually seen them.

Nobody asked you to have an opinion... I just said that even if a brand were not available in your country you could know it anyway as you can travel or see it on some friends.
