santa cruz man, when in rome ...

gdl, I do have a bottle green square but two reasons why I don't it would work that well with that combo:

1) I don't mind the silk tie + silk square combo for most of the year but in summer I really think a silk tie requires a dry texture to set it off, hence I will always wear a linen square. I actually wear a lot of linen and linen blend ties in summer, more than I wear those business silks, and with those I prefer silk squares.

2) The color of the suit looks tan in the photo but it's really more of a pale, dull olive. Not a vivid green by any means, but definitely a tan with a greenish cast. I think a green square would have looked too camouflage-y.

The cut looks nice, although I feel like it might need a bit more casual of an outfit to go with it.
After reading Parker and GDL's thoughts I do think that the tone is just a bit too warm for my personal tastes. Perhaps i'd like it more in the context of more warm/texture-y materials, like some type of knit tie and some brown cords (?). But I don't have experience with that type of pattern so that's just my unrefined instinct talking.

I thought I had added sufficient texture with the flannels I wore... I can most certainly combine with brown and/or green cords and moleskins. I'm no great fan of knit ties, although I do have a navy one. But I do have several cashmere ties which ought to combine just fine. The thing is, as Gdl notes below, that would all underline the fall feel, whereas I am trying to see whether I can get some "summer" use out of this coat.

I think that jacket is great - but def has a warm, fall feel to it, so it looks at odds with other elements that are more spring or summery. I personally prefer to wear sport coats in a business casual way, so I would have worn this without a tie and with a blue oxford and slim khakis, but that's just my preference.

Ok. So let me run the jacket by you with navy cotton trousers. Still wearing a tie, so not as casual as the image you paint, but hopefully more summer-y.

I'm not sure the pink shirt works with the jacket. I'm also not sure this can be a summer jacket.

The tie is actually a J. Press grenadine, although the texture does not show up very well.

EDIT -

Another pic. The suit is a dark navy, not black, and it has subtle stripes on it. Iphone camera contrast blows.

Needs a darker tie and different pants. Try mid grey pants, and a light blue solid shirt. Make suede shoes, dark brown or navy twill tie.
