I was wondering where I could get some colored denim in New York City or on the web. I have seen some stuff isolated, but what brands make a good slim but not skin tight bright colored jeans(particularly red). Thanks in advance.

April 77 and Julian Red have some colored denim. A lot of interesting April 77 models such as certain metalic ones and certain colors are easily found on japanese stores (search rakuten or the april 77 thread on superfuture). The Joey (skinny fit) has a fair amount of color in the Overdrive model.

Julian Red had a pair of highly sought after pair of red jeans called Red Dragon or something like that. They also have them in orange and a pale yellow color.

Cheap Monday has a large variety of colors too and they are pretty cheap (around $65). They can be easily found at many youth oriented clothing stores and even urban outfitters has picked them up.

All the jeans mentioned are pretty tight but you could try sizing up. Urban Outfitters' house brand, BDG, have cheap ($40-50) colored skinny jeans that aren't quite as tight as the others i listed.

Thanks for the reply. I light relatively slim denim, but I am not a huge fan of the eighties extra tight spandexy jeans look. That said I am in a market for some red jeans so I will take a look at Julian Red since April 77s appear a bit skinnier than I would prefer.

not sure if it qualifies as "premium" but Ben Sherman has a pair of slim red jeans on their website (and in their stores, which there is one in Soho)

I'll check both of the suggestions. I also checked uniqlo but they were also a little tighter than I like. I am seriously trying to avoid fashion victimhood as much as possible. I might be able to explain myself out of some red jeans but red leggin-like jeans will be a tough go.

I mean, you're looking for red jeans in NY. You said you wanted to avoid fashion victimhood, but i'm just wondering how you're going to wear your red jeans in a non youth, hipsterish, slim kind of way. Red jeans are pretty live for the moment kind of fashion, where you might not feel the same way about them 2 years from now. Jet's right though, red jeans did peak already as far as hipness, especially in an area like NY. Those blue and yellow RO jeans would be badass for spring in an area you could get away with it like NY. Methinks you could wear em' with various styles too.
