What to wear with this sport coat?

I picked this Zegna up for a great price. It seems just a touch too big in the shoulders for me (I'll post photos wearing later) but I might keep it anyway. Now, what trousers/shirt colors and patterns would one where with this? This is where I have a hard time.

Navy is difficult I'd say... but pale grey, mid grey, beige, tan certainly come to mind.

some fit pics. I've got it pinned in back. There's a slight crease in the shoulder/upper arm where the shoulder hangs over. My first try at pics so forgive the quality.

Did your dog pin the jacket for you?

Treat it like a navy solid jacket.

Actually, checks is the one style that might not go with it. A checkered look might look strange.

That jacket looks terrific!

I fail to see your problems with the fit of this jacket. Treat it like a plain navy blazer, except don't wear checked shirts with it (unless it's a dramatically different scale like a really tiny check)

The fit in the shoulders doesn't show in these pics. But with a little movement there's a noticeable crease below the shoulder seem where the shoulder extends past my shoulder. I returned the coat

. However, I did stop by Saks and found a perfect new Zegna suit for just under $600 (from $2200) and Canali trousers for $100 (from $350). So I don't feel so bad. I really had a hard time returning the coat but I knew I wouldn't be happy with the shoulders.

Good to hear that all was not lost.

A pity though - I was hoping you'd be able to find a 50L.
