I also wear Cole Haans in the slush. The waterproofing is quite good and the shoes are acceptable looking.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I've tried the Cole Haan Chelsea boot, but it wasn't very comfortable - the top of the boot kept digging into my calves. It's not a very soft leather.

I'll check out the Timberland shoes and if all else fails, go with the rubbers.

I definitely agree with that. I just haven't found a better alternative.

Whatever you do, don't waste your money on Brown shoes. I bought a pair a few years ago and they were real crap. I think $25 would be too much too pay for the quality you receive.

I live in Toronto and usaually just wear a rubber soled shoe in the winter. I got a couple pairs of Grensons from Bennies that have been put into service this year. For only $100 they are a good deal if still available in your size.

This winter, I replaced my worn-out Havana Joe lace-up boots with Timberland waterproof chelsea boots. They look dressy enough to wear with suits and are good for casual wear as well. They are not warm, but are warmer than duckboots, and are waterproof all the way up to the top.

The price is also good, I got them for less than $100 I think.

Dress boots in scotch grain with a rubber sole should work.

I have a pair of Carmina boots from Drinkwaters (search forum) that I like.

I'm sure plal has CJs that might also work.
