IMO, his credbility was compromised on 2-09-2006. There were photos.

Wow. This may be the first time I've agreed with SGladwell about anything!

I too wear linen whenever the heck I feel like it because I love it. I rarely wear it ouside the house in Winter, but I do wear linen all year 'round.

Oh, and of course, baseball caps with my ponytail pulled through.

I wear brown shoes at night (and feel the wrath of the spirit of Frank Sinatra while doing it).

I occasionally wear a ballcap.

I occasionally (and feel shame while doing it) wear rubber-soled shoes.

I am guilty of the ones emphasized in Manton's post.

I should add the disturbing fact that I will pair jeans with just about anything. That means I can be spotted with a very formal attire, but with jeans (I am wearing today a FC shirt with metal vintage cufflinks, dress shoes, knee-length socks, but with jeans).

I don't know that we can go so far as to say that he loved the look. Did he ever wear it, other than in Notorious?

Yikes! For me, this is the equivalent of Astaire pinning his buttondowns. Homer nods.

Single-sided cufflinks (only kind I have).

Monk straps (brown suede and black calf) with jeans.

cuffed, pleated chinos
6/2 DB tuxedo (still too much wear left in it to justify a new one)
some of my cufflinks are single-sided as well (didn't realize they were a faux pas; too bad).

I have a friend who used to hate all button down collars... until he found out it was military in origin. (Military of course meaning an officer happened to invent it.) Then it's suddenly okay.
