A couple of songs that I find myself listening a lot to recently are:

Simon & Garfunkel - Sound of Silence
Don McLean - American Pie
Sidney Bechet - Petite fleur

Otherwise, quite a bit of Aznavour, Reggiani, The Strokes, Coltrane, Elliott Smith, Neutral Milk Hotel and David Bowie.

It is a tad random...

Awesome. He was quite the individual in/out of the spotlight.

I've become obsessed with "Stop Making Sense," the live DVD/album the Talking Heads did in 1983.

The version of Burning Down the House is ******* RIDICULOUS. Especially if you watch the DVD.

I have been listening to a lot of Explosions in the Sky, team sleep, and Royksopp. I have been rounding that out with a little malice mizer.

Explosions are awesome. People sometimes critize them because all of their albums sound similar, but I don't really see that as a problem.

You have excellent taste in music Conne. I saw them do the Stop Making Sense tour when I was at UVA in 1983. It was absolutely mindblowing. A true highlight of my college years.

Werd, Their albums may sound a little similar but I dont see that as a bad thing. They still have plenty of variety between songs. I hate when a band comes out with a new album and sound completely different/not as good, example: the newest killers and Strokes albums I was pretty disapointed in. I liked how the first Strokes album sounded dirty/poorly recorded, it made their music sound appropriate, their newest albums sound too studio touched up.

Right now I'm really diggint LP1 by french all chick band The Plastiscines.

Very stripped down late 70s style punk-powerpop. Half the songs in French and the rest in English. Chicks are pretty good looking from what I can tell so that helps the visuals in my head as they power thru 13 songs all around 2:00 long. No ballads to be found

I am currently rediscovering the joys of Prince, particularly Sign Of the Times and the Black Album. Everything else fails to register, excepting a few tracks from Graffiti Bridge.

I would like the Black Album on LP but it is going for $200+. How is the music? Sadly I have never heard it. Controversy is a good record.

I'm supposed to be seeing Boris on the 24th.

The Stone Roses...their b-sides were better than their second album.

What I'm listening to now...mostly Davis/coltrane/Monk
