Around 1973 I worked two jobs. Left one at 5:30 and drove across town to be at 2nd job by 6. Heard this song on the radio every day during that 30 minute drive. It’s stuck with me. This is a damn good cover.

The brilliance of Barry Gibb as a writer:

Andy reveals, "'I Just Want to Be Your Everything' was one of the most meaningful of all form, you know". He later recalls on Barry Gibb's writing style:[5]

"So, once we discussed it all and got the deal together, me and Barry locked ourselves in a bedroom and Barry just started writing. When Barry writes, it is very hard to collaborate with him, because he is so quick. And before I knew it he was starting to do the chorus of ['I Just Want to Be Your Everything'], and I thought, 'Wow what a hook!'. He's an expert at his craft. Within about 20 minutes, he'd written a number one record; and then we went right into another one, ['(Love Is) Thicker than Water']"

Maybe one of the first "Safer At Home" Covid-19 concerts? In Los Angeles at least I must think so.

So much respect to these musicians for performing to a completely empty house but to a full listening world in such dire need of comfort, with such professionalism, joy, and grace. And with the son and new leader, Thamsanqa Shabalala, and 3 other brothers, still mourning the death of their father (and LBM founder) Joseph only 34 days prior.

CAP UCLA and KCRW Presents Ladysmith Black Mambazo live from an empty Royce Hall. The never-before-seen performance was recorded March 16, 2020 and can be streamed here at 9 p.m. PT.
In early March, Ladysmith Black Mambazo was en route to the US to resume their tour, which had already been rescheduled due to the death of their founder, Joseph Shabalala, only to be met with a series of canceled performance dates necessitated by the COVID-19 public health crisis. Despite this unfortunate turn of events and its tremendous impact, CAP UCLA brought Ladysmith to LA as scheduled so they could be amongst friends while weathering the uncertainty that has gripped all of our lives.
Before the “Safer at Home” order was issued by our local and state governments, and while ensuring plenty of safe space for all involved, Ladysmith Black Mambazo performed the concert on March 16th to an empty Royce Hall for three camera operators, a few staff and a modest crew.
Enjoy their uplifting performance!

What a kind, gentle gift.

(Odd side note: the real "Falcon", Christopher Boyce (played in "The Falcon and The Snowman" by Timothy Hutton) was arrested for espionage in January 1977 on the campus of UC Riverside, California, where I was a freshman student and my father was chairman of the Art Department...my great claim to fame! :lookaround:).

Bob Dylan's first original release in 8 years, including a kind message:

No NYC block party was complete without this song being played. Do people still do block parties?

You rarely hear this version
