@Bromley Thanks for the follow up picture Bromley. Assume the mural is on the building that is pictured in the mural. This Melanie video is an interesting contrast/comparison to Sister Rosetta. Rosetta singing in England to a younger audience. Melanie in Holland singing to an older generation. Her voice is so unique and she sings with passion/intensity. Both videos bridge cultures, generations, race. Melanie is validated at the end with a standing ovation which surprised me.

Cool. I've never seen that one. The cuts to the audience are during the performance are pretty wild.

Yeah, that mural depicts the building that it's on, which is kind of funny.

Nice. I've been on a big Ike & Tina kick lately. The River Deep record especially.

They made two different versions of this track. The Phil Spector version has her singing naturally without any screaming. I like the screaming version better.

Check out the album Bold Soul Sister-The Best of the Blue Thumb Recordings. A solid blues offering for sure.

He has a long history of being a caustic jerk. Apparently he's walked off stage in a huff many times as well.
Indeed. Apparently a real unpleasant jerk, depression, etc., or not.

I never understood his musical "appeal" in the least, but whatever. This has nothing to do with musical talent anyway, obviously. His recent "apologies" regarding these reports are as responsibility-denying, other-blaming, and bullshit-laden as the best of the genre.

Plus, I trust Liz Phair et al far more than I would ever trust him.

I remember liking his early band Whiskeytown but not really being into his solo stuff.

I'm not saying he's awful or anything, but I just never heard any real soul or genuine depth, something that really enticed or interested me, pulled me in...but I did hear a lot of inconsistency and a sort of shallowness which just never appealed to me.

Kind of like Joe Bonnamassa being called a "great bluesman" by some. Joe Bonnamassa may indeed be great at many, many things, but a great bluesman he most definitely is not, and never will be, imo.

He's to refined, but this sure as hell sounds good.
