I have a pair bought 15 years ago and still wearing it today. From what I see, mine had stitchings through bottom of the soles. It was worth every penny paid for!

I love it when a search pulls up a Style Forum post from the good old days.

I'm about to wear these today. Have had them for several decades. Brings back a memory of that time someone complemented my shoes and did so in that tone letting me know the complement was anything but sincere. I looked down to discover I had the left of this pair "matched" with the right of a pair of Westons. Hey, it was dark when I dressed. And haven't we all done this ... in one way or another?
