A humorous statement given how many people on this forum post pictures of themselves after making sure to blot out their faces first.

I'm pretty sure that has more to do with protecting anonymity than anything else. Not that everyone who posts here is good looking, but blotting your face from pictures really has nothing to do with how good looking anyone is.

Personally, I cut out my face because it's beauty would make the internet implode.

Thank you for clarifying that for us. I trust you know this person, and did not make this comment based on the picture alone?

Agree entirely. A lot of posters on this topic doth protest too much. I for one would rather attend a horse race with men wearing madras sportscoats and women with too much makeup than attend a street party with men wearing t-shirts and women in halter tops. I was never one to accept the argument that if you oppose something you are secretly attracted to it (eg homosexuality), but reading these posts makes me wonder if some Style Forum members are still bitter about rejection from a fraternity twenty years ago.

Somehow, I missed/ignored this thread. I probably would have been better off without it!

Some of the people in the pictures look fine. Many are disasters, but when is that a surprise at any event?

Brownshoe has an excellent critique from a Trad standpoint. The sunglasses are exactly what jumped out at me when I first glanced through the pictures.

Honestly, on the whole I think the Trad forum is probably dominated by non-frat types. I would agree that the folks in the pictures are a verifiable 'type' who bear some relation to Trad, it would be interesting to compare them to, say, a NYC Christmas party or something similar. The clothes would be different, but it wouldn't be any prettier.

I've noticed this approach pretty frequently, too. SF/AAAC et al and the niceties of exactly how much cuff to show will never (and has never) been of interest to the general population. To some degree, be happy with what you can get.
