Dinner at Park Avenue Summer: potato gnocchi with sweet corn and summer truffles followed by the veal chop Milanese. Very good food in a comfortable yet elegant setting, however, a tad on the expensive side.

No pictures, but I ate the crap out of parmesan crisps today. And also, fresh croissants and pain au chocolat. Remarkably, Moscow ID has a guy who makes some pretty good croissants and brioche - and even more astounding - more "French" than most bakeries I've tried in NYC, SF, or LA. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santy Clauz.

Huh. A good friend of mine moved to Moscow a few years ago to start teaching at U Idaho. He seems pretty happy with the town and its food options (I've heard many stories of drunken nights at Nectar wine bar), but I'm not sure if he knows of this local baker.

I had some pattypan, fresh picked from the kitchen garden, in my 11 course tasting last weekend. A very nice squash, IMO.

My cheat days consist of fois gras and caviar.

What type of diet are you on? Neither of those are "cheats" on my diet.

Haven't had any decent foie gras in like, 3 weeks. I sense a cheat day coming up for me as well.

went for pizza at Lou's last night because a friend's brother was in town.

we got caught with a ridiculous 2 hour wait (much longer than they told us...literally could have left and gone to another location and been seated and done eating first) since the cubs game had just ended.

sucks because you could eat much better with that kind of a wait on saturday night but it was the first solid food I've had since tuesday's lunch so it ******* kicked ass.

Next foie for me will probably be 9/3. The problem is the tasting menu has a choice between a braised and smoke pork belly or seared foie. I think I might have to just get them upcharge so I can have both and I'll skip dessert.
