Can a western shirt be worn oversized and relaxed specially in a lightweight material? Thoughts

You're probably going to get a look similar to a safari jacket, so in principle it could work if worn over a t-shirt or so with denim or chinos, but you'd need to try it out in person. Difficult to judge without a picture or example of the look you're trying to create.

The challenge I see is the cut and length of the hem. It will be cut like a shirt (which it is) and will therefore probably be very long and look funny worn outside the pants. If you tuck it in, you'll look like you're wearing a tent. I would go for safari jacket instead if you want to wear it outside the trousers.
