Watch recommendations for getting myself a birthday present...

I'd like to spend $1,200 - $1,500 on a new or vintage watch. While I can search the various threads and go to TimeZone, I'd like some off-hand input from some of our resident WIS's.

Since you have those, maybe your next purchase should be something along the lines of a Cartier Santos or a JLC Reverso on a leather strap. Something squared off, rather than round, for special occasions?

How vintage do you want to go?

I personally love many of the 30's/40's deco era watches and even some of the more pricey brands from that era can be had for less than your budget.

I have bought a few restored pieces from the ebay seller Holben's Fine Watches and have consistently been happy.
