I'd like to spend $1,200 - $1,500 on a new or vintage watch. While I can search the various threads and go to TimeZone, I'd like some off-hand input from some of our resident WIS's.

Something timeless and classic that goes with everything. I'd suggest an Omega Seamaster stainless steel.

Thanks guys...I should have mentioned that I already own a Breitling stainless steel Colt Automatic and a late-70s vintage Omega Seamaster day-date.

Since you have those, maybe your next purchase should be something along the lines of a Cartier Santos or a JLC Reverso on a leather strap. Something squared off, rather than round, for special occasions?

Try to find a used JLC Master Grand Taille over on TZ. Classic, elegant, goes with everything and has a killer movement.

I'll go ahead and put on the flame suit and suggest a Tag Heuer Monaco.
With a bit of haggling, your budget might be perfect for this watch new.

(Attention Rolex-haters: Rolex endorsement below)

I'd definitely look for a vintage Sub or Seadweller
