Warm winter coats

There's nothing more comfortable or warm than a puffer jacket. Here is a JCrew one just for example, you can get them from virtually any brand in almost any price range. There is ample room to layer underneath for extra warm and comfort.

I highly, highly doubt it. There is not even snow on the ground in their marketing pictures. It is at least not marketed as a very warm coat.

I didn't catch that you'd be using it for Chicago weather-- I'm in DC where the winters are milder. In the warmth department, it's definitely not gonna compete with a Canada Goose puffer coat or something with a big fur-lined hood. That would probably be more appropriate if you spend lots of time outdoors during the winter. On the other hand, the Filippa K jacket is more versatile in terms of style. You can dress up or down. And the high collar is great to guard against wind... I think with proper layering & scarf it would do just fine as long as your lifestyle doesn't require inordinate time outdoors.
