Question on vintage Alden sizing: Would a C/E shoe be the combination last where C is the heel, E is the forefoot, or is it the other way around and it has a gigantically wide heel, but a forefoot that is narrow?

More narrow is the heel

Just an hypothesis. They look like Navy low quarters. Newport Shoe Co. contracted by US during WWII? The marking DA-35-243-QM (CTM)-1944 is an old GI stock number. QM=Quarter Master? Newport RI? Reproduction? Nice shoes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/353096943308

I found a Newport, NH business that might fit the time period. The one I found in RI was in the 1950s. I was just after them for the date- and they fit. Looks better than the current Bates military shoes I see

This isn't a shoe question but thought I'd ask you well-turned-out gents if you wear or know of a maker of a high rise trouser? It seems more logical and ultimately more comfortable but I'm trying to gauge that with pants that don't have enough rise at the moment. Thanks.

WINGTIP WEDNESDAY: The old adage advises “no brown in town.” That is old wisdom that doesn’t apply anymore. Now lots of colors other than black are acceptable. These particular examples are 1967 Florsheim 93639 in CHESTNUT — the rarest of the rare for the Florsheim Kenmoor. Perhaps the prohibition against brown shoes explains how these have such little wear in 56 years.

Not Hanover. That's Nettleton, made by Barclay (both were owned by Endicott Johnson Shoes corp since 1970s, Barclay seems to have made several models for Nettleton during that period ).
$12 is a steal deal !!!

Ahh just because i've seen exact model before and did some research on it. The model is on @davidVC site
