Yeah, I dig the mismatched panels, my derby boot has lighter and darker shades of cognac on each side and I think the contrast looks cool.

And seconded I think it would even our over time. Part of the appeal to me

Meh, the leather is so thin, i thought this leather was thicker, similar to crust horsehide, how disappointing....

Well usually if it's lined, the leather isn't going to be that thick. Just something to think about for future purchases.

Edit: I'll correct myself here. I do have reverse mushroom chamois chelseas and those are lined but the leather is still thick. I think regarding service boots though - if it needs to be lined it's probably thin.

I thought my tumbled horsehide was thin, but this one looks thinner.

What is the break-in like on the dainite sole? This thread/forum has caused me to consider a pair of Service Boots as my next pair of [totally unnecessary] shoes/boots, however while trying on a pair and comparing it to my Shell Indy's the dainite was sooo stiff and seemed to lack any cushioning. Is it a break-in thing or if I normally don't enjoy dainite soles I should stay away until I find a different make-up? (which from my perusing seems to be very rare nowadays!)

Most, if not all of Vibergs make-ups are with a dainite sole or leather I guess. So waiting out for a different sole option is probably not a great idea.
I wonder if the boot you tried on had a leather midsole, if so than that could have been why you thought it was so stiff or hard to break in. Honestly the dainite sole is one of the best in the bizz and is really nice. Takes no time at all to break in, and I'm not a heavy guy by any means.

So I would not let the Dainite sole stop you from buying a high quality service boot.
Take that for what it's worth.

Also here from /r/goodyearwelt. Due to Canadian Thanksgiving, the pre-sale will actually end on Tuesday, October 10.

Here's where we are on numbers:
Trying to make one final push to make this happen. Please check out the make-ups and spread the word if you know anyone who might be interested. Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Did these make-ups get enough support to be a go?

Got a response. They told me to mail them back and they’d refund my original shipping charge

Am I wrong in thinking they should pay for return shipping? It cost me 45 bucks to return a pair of boots to viberg in the past, and I didn’t do anything wrong here. I got a pair of boots that were mismatched colors...

I've tried arguing that in the past, they don't budge. I've resorted to eating the loss and using paypal return (up to $30 back) through PayPal
