I normally wear sweaters, cardigans/casual check shirts wiith jeans/chinos/cargos and boat shoes,
but want a lightweight ish jacket to wear on colder days, and evening to the pub/restuarants, etc

but being out of touch with fashion trends was wondering what are the current/always stylish jacket styes that are versatile for what i wear?

any specific colours recommended?

thank you

Don't expect a reply to a thread after 2 hours, especially when it's a commonly asked topic. I would look into Harrington jackets, bomber-style jackets, and stuff from Barbour.

I'd say depending on your body type, either a nylon or cotton moto-jacket, or a cotton military jacket.

If we're talking summer coats and extemely casual I wear a Harrington or even a 3rd pattern jungle fatigue top which has been starched. A little colder and I have a sand, brown, blue, green, read sports coat with a houndtooth pattern. Even have a Levi demin jacket which I wear at times but don't make the mistake of wearing double denim i.e. denim jacket and denim jeans

thank you for the replies.
i quite like the military style jackets

Michael , i have a slim body type
not too keen on bomber style jackets or harringtons - they're too plain in design

What are the most versatile colours in a military jacket?

I vote yes for the military style jacket, my son's in his early 20's and loves this style. But I can't blame him, as it is quite stylish and fitted right for your body type can be flattering.

Exactly which jackets are you referring to by "military style jacket"?
