Greetings,

Long time lurker here. I’ve recently acquired a second-hand Tom Ford suit that is in great shape; I don’t doubt it’s authenticity as the fine details are all well and good. My inquiry is simple - does anybody know when Tom Ford moved his suit production from Italy to Switzerland exactly? I am merely trying to get a range of dates just to know more about the suit. Please refrain from unnecessary comments and opinions about the brand itself.

Tom Ford suits are made by Zegna who have factories in both Italy & Switzerland (the Swiss factory is on the Italian border).
AFAIK Tom Ford suits have always been made in both countries.

I actually have a 2 piece suit where the jacket was made in Switzerland and the pants made in Italy, and a 3 piece suit made in Switzerland with the vest made in Spain.

Older employee suits aka "uniforms" were made in China, not sure if that's still the case.

Anything made in China and Spain are uniform. It was China first and then Spain. If you look at the inner pocket of your waist coat you should see a code UNITFC.

In saying the above, there are Italian made charcoal uniforms as well. The constructions for all uniforms are the same as retail (full canvas) , except for retail the fabric are more finer than uniform since uniform needs to be more hard wearing.

The only inform that's definitely made in China are the security uniform where it has no TF hand details.
