Hey guys- I haven't been active on the MC Forum at all but have been an avid lurker and a sporadic poster in B&S and in SW. I'm a college student and haven't had a navy blazer since childhood. I made a random thrift shop stop today and found this navy blazer by Hughes & Hatcher that I think fits rather well, and for $7..

Now my questions- does it actually fit well? I'm 5'10, 155, and wear a 39/40r; this blazer was unmarked. The lapels seem huge to me and I would like to get them tailored to something slimmer and more modern, though I have no idea if that is possible, and the cost for doing so. Also the two button holes have been reinforced with a navy thread that is of a different shade, and I would like to get that resolved, as well as replacing the buttons. Any comments and feedback would be appreciated. The worst case is that I am out $7. Here are some quick pics.

Holy ****. The lapel width is ungodly.

Sorry, that thing just doesn't work.

The lapels can be easily reduced, since there's no buttonhole on it. Also, pockets flaps are huge and should be reduced too. You can finally ask for the replacement of these red buttonholes.

But these alterations could be expensive. Ask a tailor.

The blazer itself fits well.

Nevertheless, LabelKing (best poster on SF) would wear it as is:
