I got less than 5 hours of sleep, I can barely move, and I think I'm getting sick now. How the **** am I gonna survive another 14 or 15 hour day, outside in the cold, on my feet all day? I dont think I can make it.

Sucks... I'm with you. Except I'm inside, and the heat is broken.

My broken helmet and completely non-broken head beg to differ.

I wouldn't ride in NYC without one. Whenever I see cyclist go helmet-less I cringe. You can seriously ************* up from a fairly minor crash or fall without one. Getting slammed by a cab doing 40....ehhhhh I'd still rather have one than not.

I considered buying a Vespa, the thing that stopped me was I don't want to wear a helmet. Oh yeah, and because I hate anybody on wheels in NYC!

Ahh the old helmet saved my head story, there are so many of those that it's amazing there is still anyone alive from when everyone went around without a helmet.

Absolute complete alarmist rot, cycling is a very safe activit. You are more likely to be injured as a pedestrian so do you wear a helmet when you walk down the street? Also helmets are designed to ameliorate direct head impacts something that your skull is already very good at, they also however exacerbate (and infact cause) glancing blows responsible for rotational injuries, something your skull can do **** all about.

Haaaa learn to ride a bike it's not difficult or dangerous and there is no basis in fact for believing bike helmets are of any use what so ever. People are just ******* scared of eveything these days.

Try in London...

Every week, a cyclist gets flattened by a bus or a lorry..

It is a safer suicide option than barbiturates..

Ok, how about my father who spent a very extended stay in the hospital when he was young after an accident back in the day when everyone went around without a helmet? Consensus seemed to be that he would have been fine with a helmet.

Just like seatbelts and airbags, sure they can cause and exacerbate certain things, but they prevent more problems than they cause by a long shot.
