Truth be told, I've had one so far: I went to a specialist and I was all kinds of nervous. I ran a fuckton of mileage that morning just so I'd be too tired to be wound up, but no dice. Anyway, he moved really quickly - swabbing, then shooting the gums with novocaine - maybe it was, probably not because after about 30 seconds it hit me that he was pushing the needle downward between two molars into the gum, and I was aware of it, but no pain at all. I relaxed after that, and it was over in about 45 minutes. From there I went on into work, took some ibuprofen, and the next day I was fine.

Sorry dude, root canals suck major monkey balls. Make sure they give you enough pain meds (oxycodone or the like with refills) since it tends to be really ******* painful for a few days after.
