I suggest adjusting your camera's exposure and ISO settings to more appropriate levels.

sweet, thanks for this, i forgot all about that ISO business. just checked my camera and it seems that it bumps the ISO as high as it goes as soon as its not bright outside

i set it down to 200, and voila, no more grainy mess.
