Well supposedly the base 911 is the most fun to drive because you can actually work through the gears. The S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S are all too powerful to really work the engine on a normal street.

I know a guy who sold his 911Turbo for that reason. I’ve thought about it as well for my E63S wagon, but scaring the kids with the acceleration is so much fun…

Objectively speaking, peak Foo is best based on historical tradition. Any other Foo is just imitating peak Foo for the sake of fakeness trying to be real peak Foo.

Thoughts on either of these? Yes they are the little brother counterparts to the obvious alternative, but they are growing me on their own merit. The BB Chrono isn't exactly easy to come by either from an AD at the moment.

There’s one near me. Patek, ALS and Breguet all in one store (along with Rolex, Tudor, Cartier, Breitling, Panerai).

That is cool. I did have a nearby AD that had both. But that AD seems to have given up Lange.

Are these watches you truly want or are they merely a place holder until you get versions from the parent company? If you don't love them on their own merits, then I wouldn't get one. However, if you really like them, they are good watches and a good value. If given a choice of those two, I'd be leaning towards the chronograph. I feel like I would constantly be looking at the BB GMT and thinking it's not the GMT that I truly want. For me its just not different enough in terms of appearance, and it would be a reminder of what is not actually on my wrist. The BB chrono, is different enough looking from a modern Daytona and borrows lots of styling cues from other Tudor models, such that I wouldn't feel like I'm buying a Daytona substitute.

Very similar to my thoughts, the BB Chrono (especially with the small changes introduced in the new panda versions) stands well enough on its own that it can be seen as its own thing.

I definitely feel less that way about the GMT, but even outside its relation to the GMT Master, I don't find it to be a great design. Just find the case on it to be too meh, especially compared to the BB58 case.
