Come to think of it: is there any profession that dresses particularly well? I’m stumped.

Yes, but the "Larry and his entire office" argument isn't really that strong given that in that era at least 99.9% of "NoCal Bohemia" was often stark raving naked, in addition to which most of them had absolutely no use for watches as both time and clothing were considered extremely shackling concepts.motation, sure. but indeed helprin (and his entire office) get naked in iirc 'rsvp cycles' and 'taking part'
I like it. Have you thought of pitching that idea to Tarantino? It sounds like it could be right up his alley, especially the "doesn't" aspect.what happens at sea ranch stays at sea ranch. or doesn't.
I felt this.I don’t like to generalize. But if you have a monogrammed shirt cuff, you’re definitely a tool.

Like you I am looking for a (full?) gold watch. First I wanted a day date too, but I think I will be bored after a while. So now I am torn between these two daytonas:

I like both equally; the sportiness of the oysterflex and ceramic bezel, but also the luxurious look of the full gold bezel and bracelet.
Help me out guys, convince me why one would be "better" than the other. You decide the context.
I don't make the rules.I felt this.
I got to try it on several years ago when you could still find these at the boutiques. If only I had $60k to spend on a watch. This is pretty nice

I hate that the date disk gold doesn’t match the good used on the dial.I got to try it on several years ago when you could still find these at the boutiques. If only I had $60k to spend on a watch. View attachment 1612070
@9thsymph, I went through a similar process several years ago when I really wanted a solid gold watch on a bracelet. I was focused on the GMT Master II, but eventually went with a 36mm Day-Date. Although the GMT is super cool, I felt at the time it was a bit too chunky, especially in the maxi case. The DD in the Oyster case is slimmer and doesn‘t seem as much in-your-face. With that said, I find I don‘t wear the DD that much and am back to searching for something different and sportier. But as Foo pointed out, there are not that many options for gold watches on a bracelet.
I am a fan of the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo:

It has some heft to it compared to the Ti model, but it‘s still lighter than other gold watches. I just wonder how the design will age.
