Third, a watch is just one small component of your style. Even if every such component were in fact boring, the whole might still be very pleasing and interesting. In fact, as with any other accessory, often the more interesting and eye-grabbing unto itself, the more detrimental to the overall good.
I take it you don't care for the Pitti Peacocks . . .

I guess?

But the whole design just rubs me the wrong way. Comes across more as a water-themed watch than a watch for going into the water, where you’d want maximum contrast and legibility, not a wave-textured blue dial and skeletonized hands.

My Seamaster that I showed (the best variant in my opinion) doesn’t have the wave dial. It’s a great looking watch. The skeletonized hands in person aren’t distracting at all. The biggest issue in my opinion is the band, which definitely is what it is. It’s not as bad as a jubilee, though.

I picked it as one of my two watch collection because it’s the most practical knock around steel sports watch I own. I don’t dig Rolex, so I don’t own one. And I couldn’t/wouldn’t wear either of my Overseas to the beach or working outside or to the range.

Well? A watch is a functional jewellery piece. both to serve as an appliance and as an item of personal flamboyance. Even if it's Quartz.

100% agreed—which is why it is impossible to formulate a meaningful aesthetic perspective on watches without a fundamental understanding
of the technical aspects of watchmaking.

Similar to cars, our other mutual interest. The beauty of a car depends on its functionality. That’s why fake vents and useless wings are ugly to the initiated and harmless or attractive to those who don’t know better.

Change the bracelet. Most people change it to the 1861 Speedmaster style bracelet that has a slight taper.
