That's not remotely true for me.
Ok maybe exaggerated a bit here but especially with all these Luxire posts I find it truly stunning that none of them fits great. Still waiting on my first bespoke and MTM shirt to be finalized but getting a bit scared when I see the results of others. Especially if your body type is pretty standard.

I am just starting to realize that maybe RTW shirts are the way to go... I find it hard to believe that you could not find a better fitting shirt off the rack than this. No offense, just trying to understand the point of MTM/ bespoke shirts if they end of looking just like RTW or even worse.

Was this in reference to my pictures?

I think I can find RTW that generally fits me pretty good, but I always have to get sleeves adjusted and the body taken in.

For that tailoring cost where I live, I see it worthwhile to choose a maker like Luxire that isn't necessarily much more expensive, and also gives me the opportunity to customize shirts how I want (collar/placket/shirring/button placement etc)

Yeah sorry forgot to reply to your post. I guess it makes sense from your perspective (at least money wise), I am hoping that i can say the same when I get my shirts back.... beginning to doubt it though but mmaybe I am paranoid:)

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good tailor in the DC area (inside the beltway)?

Thank you in advance!

I view online mtm and rtw shirts as two sides of the same coin. As far as I'm concerned, Luxire and others aren't exactly competing with Wil Whiting and Charvet.

For me, bespoke shirts aren't worth it. I go through shirts too quickly. But I'm also 6'4" with a 6'8" wingspan, which isn't exactly conducive to fitting RTW. Online mtm gives me the sweet spot of what I'm looking for. To use DFW's phrasing, there is a difference between good and good enough.

I picked up this suit last Wednesday but for some reason I lose my focus at the store and what seemed to be a perfect fit at the time is now plaguing me with doubts. What do you think, is the jacket too tight?

Hard to see, but almost certainly too short in the body. Should cover your rear end and come down to the crotch in the front. Otherwise, the sleeves are badly bunched (it looks like they are catching on your shirt somehow) and there is a likely collar gap at the back (but it’s hard to confirm if it’s there in your normal standing position)

Would a picture in a different angle/distance help? My widest measure at the chest is about 92cm and Im wearing a 48 in the pictures.

Clear full body photos from all four angles would be ideal to comment
Unfortunately I don't have better lighting to do this. At this point I'm not comfortable with my doubts, I think I will definitely drop by the shop and see what to do, if to trade up to a 50 or not. It just bugs me that I needed to come back home to actually see the issues. The sleeves I really cant make them go flat, my dress shirt is a on the large side but I dont think thats the issue...

I’m not a tailor so shouldn’t give you tailoring advice here. But purely from a visual perspective, I would say that jacket is probably 2 inches or more too short, the sleeves do not fit cleanly (not sure what is going on with them), and the pants look as though they are much too tight at the seat and thigh. This seems like a modern skinny suit, so it may be the style you are looking for however.

you could try a bigger size (or a longer one) but i suspect the shoulders and chest would then be too big. I can’t see any size of this particular suit fitting well to be honest.

I'm ok with the pants, but the jacket is proving difficult to evaluate. I'm not particularly endeared to the whole skinny fit on anything but its pretty much what I can find within my budget/time. Thank your for your comments, I'm really only looking for opinions. I guess I was hoping someone would say that no, it has a good fit, and save me the embarrassment of going back to the store and pretty much imply I got poor advice on the fit.

The store advice in most stores would tell you that was a decent fit - especially the length - and would believe it. That is the look that is being sold whether we like it here or not. If you want a classic fit, this is far from it.
