Ok, who’s the person who rubs cocoa butter on his feet in lieu of wearing socks?? :smarmy:
Can't reveal but they were very proud of the fact and won't be surprised if they reveal. All I can say is I tried it in the end... and interesting idea.

Interesting - has gotten me curious but not sure if I'll actually try it.

Also the SF-02 crossed my mind as I was walking home from work yesterday. Do you envision it with Margom cup soles or would you entertain a thinner profile sole - like GAT. Not sure if any stitched GAT soles exist though.

That said - now that I think about it I guess Margom soles provide more protection and flexibility.

My dream for SF-02 is to have whatever sole/attachment thereof that allows resolability! (Without going the way of being goodyear welted or similar, I've seen some GYW sneakers and they looked everything but cool...)

So I guess the SF-02 will be what the data says it would be. If a margom cup sole wins the consensus then that is what it will be.. we have to keep with the spirit of this collaboration in whatever product we do. Of course this means there will be those disappointed their opinions didn't win out but that doesn't mean future iterations can't offer something different.

We also have to take into account that we might have a statistically relevant winner in type but it might not mean the result that ended up no 2 or no 3 isn't relevant, depending on how skewed the data is we could have multiple relevant products from a single questionnaire. We will be refining the process and will actually build our own processing platforms within our systems.

SF-02 timeline is as follows. We will begin by designing the questionnaire and place it up (allowing 15 days or so). First samples will be made, shared and discussion will ensue. The pre-production set will be made, shot and uploaded for pre-order just after the SF-01 is delivered. This way you all get a chance to ensure that we are fulfilling on our promise AND we get the added advantage that the size check protocols are functioning well.

I'll follow up with the information about the other few GMTO's and then the poll for the remaining items.

Hi SF community,

We’ve got some pretty exciting news. We’ve been quite the obsessive sneakerheads for some time, and we’ve wanted to create the ultimate classic Italian leather sneakers for just as long. We’ve been tinkering with our own design for some time (making mistakes along the way) and have gone through four different versions, building on each and finessing details in the stitching, shape and more.

Then, it occurred to us that we couldn’t possibly create the ultimate sneaker all on our own. We decided we needed some help, and where better to get it than the community which is most passionate about ultra-high quality, with an intimate knowledge of iconic luxury products?

We’ve had a chat with Fok and Arianna from Styleforum, and we would like to create a sneaker made in complete collaboration with the community, which we will sell to the community at cost. We estimate that would be $128 dollars, for a hand-cut, handmade Italian leather sneaker (to clarify: our sneakers use hand cut leather, they are mounted by hand, and stitched by a hand-operated machine). It would be available exclusively to Styleforum users, and if we were ever to sell subsequent runs to people outside the community it would be through our standard pricing model and cost $200. Here’s how it will work in practice:

  1. Fill in our short survey (https://www.archibaldlondon.com/us/survey/styleforum-x-archibald) to share your thoughts on all aspects of the sneaker- material, design, laces, padding- you name it.
  2. We’ll then share the results in the forum for open discussion and feedback, which we’ll also take into account as part of the research and design phase.
  3. Our trusted craftsmen in Italy will create 3-5 samples of the sneaker which we’ll share on the forum through photos and videos for any final thoughts and feedback.
  4. Pre-orders will open up for all 3-5 sample designs, and we’ll take it from there!

We’re excited to get the ball rolling, and nothing is set in stone in our mind. This is a collaboration between us and you, so if you think the process could be improved or had any other suggestions feel free to share them. And we really look forward to making something special with you all.

Orlando, Maja, and Rohan

Hi all, I wanted to offer an update given the heightened state of emergency with the coronavirus in Italy. Things are a bit crazy with many areas under lock-down and a lot of concern and struggle to contain on the ground. Many workshops have closed and ceased operations completely so it is having a devastating effect on the economy and the country as a whole. More relevant to this, as of this moment, there has been no effect for the making of the SF-01's which seems to be all ok. We will, of course, be offering live-updates via email and this thread to all of you who have ordered the pair.

I thought you would say “stay there” lol
Ahahahahah luckily I made it back a couple of days before Modena became "red zone", which means that the town is basically locked up, no one can go out. Our craftsman Adriano will continue keeping you updated from the workshop with pics from the production though, the SF-01 and all our new GMTO won't stop
