Wore these through rain storms for 2 days, then got them shined up. C&J for BB. Patina definitely trending to a brownish - burgundy.

I've noticed the same trend in mine as well. I like the browner tones.
Dainite sole I assume? There was a while that they were making this with a leather sole.

Hey Guys. After becoming initiated to the joys of shell by my Alden for BB LHS loafers, I'm in the market for a casual cordovan boot in either dark brown or Color 8 (cap toe or minimally-brogued wings). I'm finding it difficult to find many boots that are the right blend of casual + clean lines that aren't limited run and rare to locate. One local shop wants £800 for the only pair of Wolverine 721s in my size.

Wolverine has done a few (721/744), but they only seem to line the toebox. Not sure how durable that makes them... Alden's got a nice boot for J Crew, but I'm not loving the stitching. Carmina's are beautiful, but too dressy. Allen Edmonds.... Well I'm over Allen Edmonds.

Can you cordovan specialists recommend a few places for me to look?

Try Laszlo Vass and Enzo Bonafe (sold by Skoaktiebolaget) You won't be disappointed.

Also Buday Budapest (sold by Panta)

Wow guys, suddenly I am overwhelmed with options! And with trips planne to both Vienna and Budapest, maybe I should hold off for now...

I think I'm really starting to prefer antique brown cordovan to burgundy for casual boots...

Thanks!

I need some help from the experts. I recently acquired these beauties. The box says cordovan nero however the leather does not feel like the horween shell that I'm used to. They don't feel quite like calf either. Are there different kinds of cordovan that Lattanzi uses? The shoes have not been worn yet, only tried on.

I could be wrong, but I'd say that you got the wrong box for the shoes. "Nero", of course, means "black" and those most definitely aren't black.

Also, you can see very fine creases along the uppers which are typical of good-quality calf, not shell cordovan.

Therefore, whilst I could be wrong, I'd suggest that you've got a pair of chestnut-coloured calf-leather shoes, not black cordovan shoes.

those don't look like horween cordovan creases to my eye. horween cordovan typically rolls. my comipel cordovan creases a little like calf.

Those are definitely calf. Look very nice though!
