Candidly, I expected more, but it was still very good. For those who don't know Grand Village, it is the same team as Lafleur but intended to be their highly-accessible wine to give a sense of Lafleur without the "you spent WHAT on WHAT?!?!" conversation. If you try it, it needs roughly 8 hours of decant. MUCH better on day two than one. It was pretty one dimensional and lacked complexity, but perhaps my expectations were not aligned on a $22 bottle. Solid notes of leathery red fruit with just a twinge of cedar.

I had my first experience with a wine purchased at a restaurant that we had to send back. The restaurant was class act as I requested to speak with the Sommelier to ask him his opinion on the wine, rather than take a glass and a taste, they cleared the table of the glasses and the wine and we selected another bottle. Bottle was 2015 Brunello that was very astringent and really not tasting as it should. Wine was also $180, but the restaurant handled it impeccably and it was my first time ever sending a bottle back.
