Keep us updated - I picked up a well-worn Plycraft model that needs to be reupholstered, probably new foam as well. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I should, but I would spend a lot more than I ought to.
When you first posted, my instinct said fake, but I wasn't sure, so I kept my mouth shut. I'm voting fake. Burberry's quality has gone down, but they can at least still sew a tag on with straight, even stitching. edit: if you find a few loose threads, cut them off and burn them. if real wool, will smell like burning hair; otherwise, will smell like burning plastic.
Thanks, I'm going to send a message to the seller. It didn't smell like hair, more like movie theatre popcorn actually (Maybe I'm going crazy). But it did compress into a black ball and bubble, which I'm fairly certain means it's synthetic. When you first posted, my instinct said fake, but I wasn't sure, so I kept my mouth shut. Stay off my lawn, Timmy! This island too small for the two of us, brah!Hello All, I've read many of the threads on styleforum and stumbled upon this thread regarding thrift treasure hunting. I was so intrigued by the incredible finds many of you have shown off that I went off to the local goodwill to try my luck. Found some very interesting stuff for sure. Since I'm new at this game, value on the resale market is a bit of a mystery to me. Thus, I've passed many goodies which do not fit me. Some passed items which got my attention (and unfortunately not my size) were: Brooks Brothers linen pants, Façonnable button-up shirt, a few BB suits, Canali orphan jacket, couple pairs of Ferragamo shoes. 1 Brioni paisley tie, 1 solid red BB tie, 6 BB reps More BB patterned. Anyone like these patterns? Kept this suit since it was in perfect condition and fit my very nicely. Anyone know about the value of this? Never seen any of these CD Le Connaisseur on this thread before. AE Shoes. It was dusty and dull on the rack. Made it good as new with my shine kit.
Yah pretty much. Pretty good beginner haul, but the dior you should be looking for is made in Italy, is a silver tag that says "Dior" only. CD label was liscenced in the 90's, and the quality dropped like crazy. That's what I think I remember feel free to correct me anyone
Not sure about others but Kiton, patch pockets, peak lapel is a killer cop in my book! What size is this?Hi everyone. I am super new to this game and likely more clueless than most beginners. I must admit I just came upon this thread and have yet to crack the surface, but I'll be reading it from start to finish just like the shoe care thread, among others. I just moved to an apartment in the heart of Greenwich, CT and I feel like I'm in thrift heaven--only problem is the stores already have the markup built in, it seems. The Goodwill in Westport is nicer than some department stores! I live less than a mile from the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store and the stuff I see in there blows my mind. I can't afford most of it--seriously (and I'm not THAT poor).
Anyway, it's really cool to see what you guys are doing out there. I just wanted to introduce myself as i started to feel kind of creepy lurking. Hopefully I'll be more active soon! For now, I'm sticking to neckties and items that I want to wear myself if all else fails.
If anyone has any advice on a decent camera setup (just the camera/lens/tripod/accessories---I've been reading all of the tips on lighting and whatnot) that's available at a good price right now, I'd love to hear it. I'd like to keep it under a grand for sure, but will be launching an e-commerce site soon (unrelated to thrifting don't worry haha) and would love to be able to snap some great shots for that as well. So let me know what I should be looking for and if anyone has some recent used gear they'd like to get rid of, shoot me a PM.
I'll leave you with one interesting thing I purchased: Kiton Napoli 90% Cashmere/10% silk. I feel like I need a beret to wear it. Better yet I feel like I would absolutely kill it in a beret and this thing
Paid $50. Good/Bad and/or Ugly?
Christian dior le connoisseur isn't on the thread for a reason
