Hey I'm in the state capital lol just Madison is dry these days.
Though I'd been attending auctions since I was a kid, one of the GWs in Madison was the first place I ever thrifted, a quarter century ago. I was on a speaking tour and needed a fresh blazer and slacks. My GF said, "Why don't we go shop at the GW?", and I was like "What, used clothing? Are you %^&*(^g kidding?"

But we went in and I emerged 15 minutes later with a minty Joe Bank navy blazer and gray pants for ten bucks total. Couldn't believe it. Thought I was the king of the hill, even though I'd never kop that crap now.

That one incident was what got me hooked on thrifting, led to discovering high-end brands, and decades later, here I am, still doin' it.

Also, Madtown was the first place I ever had a Culver's Butterburger and Frozen Custard, back when they had just a few stores. They have a thousand now. I almost never eat "fast food", but on the rare occasion I do, it's gonna be Culver's . . .

Here’s the haul from the other day. Had this stuff been a size M, I would have certainly been in a pickle as I had a hard enough time trying to figure out what pieces in my closet to pull in order to keep the few pieces that did fit (thank God they run slim).

I had to laugh when I picked this up, for I knew that if officially completed my haul. Inside pocket edge is worn, but the rest is in great shape. No Isaia left behind.

Would you guys pick up such jackets/coats or not worth it? (they're already with me; just want to hear your opinion)

I usually pass on big older overcoats or tweed jackets like that, especially from miscellaneous / obscure labels. It's a personal preference and storage space issue for me personally... However I know that many people do well with them (resale wise) and there's also many people that appreciate their style and heft and find them very collectible.

There's a guy from Minnesota I think who posts stuff like that a lot

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Everyone! These seem appropriate to post today. The son and grandkids were doing a house cleanout, I'm not sure why they let these go.

This vet served right out of high school from 1943-1946.

The crackerjacks haven't changed much at all from that time, I still have mine somewhere, the white ones are all polyester now though, guess they figured it was too hard to keep white cotton clean, and they're not wrong. I saw a few sailors in NYC for fleet week. I did fleet week once when I was in, fond memories of... not paying for a single drink.

Good Morning Gents - is there a tailoring term for the rows of stitching on the back of a sport coat collar? Most of my suits and coats don't have this feature but I found this on a thrifted sport coat other day:

Thank you!
