This was a few weeks ago, but I finally got pictures for the Dean of Columbia Law School's cashmere smoking jacket:

... Which he had custom-made in 1962.

Probably the nicest thing I've ever owned -- the workmanship on this is a little finer and more precise than the Anderson & Sheppard tweed I sent to Spoo a week or two ago, but I guess it's a dressier garment from a military tailor, so I guess being two blocks off of Savile Row isn't such a disaster.

And was this wool/silk Belvest a good pickup? Is that a dumb question?

eThrift $45, not sure what size though. Says 7 1/2 on the bottom of the inserts but no other printing. Since they are John Lobb I am assuming that this is UK sizing so ~8 US

Thank you. I haven't seen anything made of shell yet, then. I suspect they're surpassingly rare in my part of the country, for the same reason I never see some of the brands I see bragged on here. I mean *never*. But I probably see brands regularly that some of you never only rarely. Just not carried in local stores.

You're in Seattle, right? There's at least one Alden shop there -- Brick & Mortar. Maybe they'd even let you take a look at worn shell if you can't wait for the Knowledge Box (TM).

I personally love patch pockets, so that belvest is sick

That's why I picked it up – that and the side vents. Mixed in with lots of Canali Proposta-ish unvented dated stuff.

I left a cashmere hopsack (Guabello cloth) 6x1 DB blazer with really padded shoulders, unvented back. Was that dumb? Didn't know if anybody on here would want it or if it would flip. Got three hours to go back for it.

Some quick pics since I'm on the road. Passed through a tiny town in upstate NY today. Grabbed this for a buck. I've never picked up Helmut Lang before and I don't know much about it but it's a shirt with these weird straps on the back? Anyone know the deal?
