not to interrupt the anticipation, but does anyone know much about OLD Witnauer watches? I bought this one and I don't know enough about them to do anything with it.

The stem comes completely out. I opened the back and the movement appears to still be working. It has advanced the time in the last few minutes. Obviously its pretty rough. It has a cheesy stretch band on it. Will trade for something hopefully to someone who can restore this once beautiful watch.

Or, if it is worthless, just tell me that and I'll donate it and get a tax deduction.

Sad story about my Witnauer watch. My stepfather had a really beautiful OLD Witnauer watch. It was his father's (and my stepfather was 82, so it was an old watch). It was SUPER thin, and had an alligator band on it. My stepfather was blind, but wore this watch for years before he went blind. One day I was admiring it and told my mother how nice it was. That Christmas, she handed me a small gift bag and inside was the Witnauer. They had a watch repair guy restore it and make it perfect. It was really nice. In the excitement of the gifts and Christmas dinner, I put the watch back in the box stacked with the other stuff to take home. Somehow, some of the bags were thought to be trash and the watch and bag were thrown away. Never to be found again.
