Alden fransBoone just restocked #8 "indy boots in plaza last" grab the chance if you are interested!

Cheers!
Oh so tempting..............if the fx was just a little stronger(maybe some quantitative un-easing) and it would be a lot harder for me resist. And I must say I love the look of the brass on the cap toes too, a really nice touch that makes me think its an entirely new model.

To the fellow addict who kopped my size in the NeedSupply Union Hill tan suede boot: I'm not sure whether to thank you or be envious of you. I was going to call them this morning to find out if they resolved the construction issues that had been discussed on this forum. Looks like you've saved me time and money (and, for that matter, a new cedar boot rack).

In all seriousness, I hope you enjoy them and post pics soon!

I wish Adlen wasn't so accessible to me sometimes...

For now I am pretty comfortable just being patient and browsing the thread and market here to find some sales in my size. I actually just bought my first pair of Alden right now, the CXL PTB that was in the market for a little while. Can't wait for them to arrive. Now I wait for a pair of 975 to pop up haha

The no. 8 Leffot Tanker is pretty much the only other one I am interested in at the moment, so I might jump on a pre-order if they open one up this year.

Nice choices! I have the CXL PTB, 975 and the Leffot Tanker. My 975 are Leffot as well with the antique edge.

Thanks geek.  How do they fit compared to their lined barrie brethren?

Most people say the unlined are a bit more snug. I think they are a little more snug, but they also accommodate the foot and "give" a little because they aren't lined. I wear the same size in both lined and unlined at any rate.

They do roll quite a bit more than the lined version, but I think it adds great character to the shoe. Overall, I think the unlined version is sleeker,, but also more casual.

Just an FYI: other retailers carry the #8 Dover besides Leffot (Alden DC). I think the antique edging is exclusive to Leffot though.

I love that shoe and the Frans Boone Parajumper, but after taxes, shipping, etc I'd be looking at around $960 for each of them...ouch.

Ouch is right! It's a shame they have some cool makeups. I'd never spend that, personally.

Oh yeah, I have the Leffot 975 picture saved in my pictures as well. The antique edge is a nice touch on the 975, especially for someone like me who keeps my wardrobe fairly casual. Mostly chinos and jeans for me and those would look fantastic with either.

That is exactly the reason I bought that version. I keep my collection casual as well (for the most part).

My 975s are a 9C, so this makes me confident the 9Ds will be a good fit for casual wear. And while I prefer the antique, it is good to know of other offerings. I have been repeatedly drawn in by Leffot's makeups (day tripper, chamois longwing, PT boot) but look forward to doing business with DC someday (don't they do the cigar indys?).

Thanks.

I can't say whether a 9D would work out for you, but something tells me you'd be fine as long as you're not swimming in your 9C.

I'm not sure if DC normally carries the cigar Indy (maybe at one point) but they are known for doing runs of cigar cap toe boots on grant in commando. I know Kathy is good about entertaining requests, but I think her standing orders are already struggling to be filled.

I love the Union Hill make-up. That said, with a small family of 4 pairs that includes a natural CXL indy (commando too) and a restricted budget, it seems superfluous.
