I think chukkas are fine with khakis and sport coats. I definitely adds to a more casual look.

I think chukkas are absolutely acceptable with a suit or sport coat. Of course, I was in the Marine Corps and black leather chukkas are considered acceptable wear with service and dress uniforms. I figure if it's good enough for the Marine Corps, it's good enough for my wardrobe in civilian life as well.

I think so...if the material and last is "dressy". For example a chukka on the plaza last, regular welt, in black shell would be more dressy than a barrie lasted chromexcel clunker. imo

You may be able to pull it off, but Alden offers much better choices for suits (longwings, tassel / full strap loafers, balmorals, etc).

EDIT - blue collar makes a good point, some of the six eyelet chukkas on sleeker lasts could work with a suit. But the standard barrie cordovan chukka probably does not.

A lot of guys in this thread would be well served by adding some more shoes and loafers to their Alden collections, not just boots. They are more versatile.

    Nice!

Whatever happened with the Leffot Color 8 LWB? Did they work out for you?

They may be acceptable, but say you are are choosing between a longwing and a chukka, both in color 8

Chukka looks great with jeans, passable with suit

Longwing looks great with jeans, very good with suit

Just get longwings if you have to choose

I'm a former Jar Head too - we never had black leather chukkas back then! But yes, I mean some chukkas look great with a suit. I think our own Mac wears them with suits - but I could be wrong.

I believe Mac is wearing chinos, cords and maybe dress slacks for the most part, not wool suits

So once shoemart emails your an irregular list you get a updated list emailed to you every 3 months or so, or do you have to call them back and ask for another list?

I will keep them but i haven't had the chance to wear them outside yet.

Can you put vibram sole guards on a sole that's been worn already or does it have to be new? I like the profile of single leather oil dipped soles but I feel like I'm going to wear them out quickly.

Can anyone recommend a reputable cobbler in LA area?

It's seems sporadic. They frankly, seem very disorganized regarding the sending out of the emails.

I get the impression they do it manually or something and only if they feel like it.
