Been on the fence about ordering a pair of black shell boots. Was always concerned that black was too formal and that it would look weird given my casual attire of jeans and a t-shirt/polo. What are some of your favorite black shell boots that you own and who are they made by?

Like you, I was also on the fence about black shell and jeans. I took a chance on a few black pairs over the years and never wore them. I sold (or am currently selling) them. So, my suggestion is don’t force it. If you don’t like the combo or don't think they will match your normal attire then pass on black shell. Better to buy something else in my opinion.

wanna sell these to me yet?

or these?

:)
It's funny, 5 or so years ago I wouldn't have spent my dough on black shell, but now those Wick boots are in my top 5, for sure. Too bad the color 8 version from SOP couldn't have also had nickel eyelets.

The Docker Indys have yet to get any good wear due to this broken toe injury I'm nursing, but if I love them like I love my color 8 Indys on Cork, they'll be with me for the long haul :)

They are very nice; I will check out your suggestion! They are so comfortable.

I have a sneaking suspicion that ColumbiaKnit actually makes Withernot's shirts after reading Withernot's story of how they came to be.
They certainly look similar…. Are they all USA made? Yeah I like the color selections columbiaknit has

Love those mini Tankers from Madison. Asked Curtis a little while back to put my name down for a reorder but he said it may be a long time due to the pause on hand sewn orders. Good old 2210 in the meantime.

Looking good! They paused hand sewn orders??

ColumbiaKnit is 100% sewn and fashioned in the USA.

I know for 100% certainty that ColumbiaKnit makes shirts for many companies and used to sell the Lands' End Rugby shirts from the '80s.

I wanted to branch out into more vintage type patterns and Withernot has those, but I doubt I can get made to measure like I can from Columbaknit directly.

Apparently, yes. According to Curtis at AOM and Ronnie at Moulded Shoe, the factory is currently not accepting any new orders on hand sewn make-ups as there's a huge backlog of existing orders that need to be completed. Both are hopeful that this will change in the next few months. Ronnie thinks this does not affect stock models, however. I'm sure @BAK can chime in with more precise details though.

Very interesting thank you. The stock models piece makes sense versus custom makeups for different shops.

Looks like they need to hire more ladies to stitch!
